VIEW Dance Conventions provide dancers the opportunity to participate in a one-day workshop in Jazz, Jazz Funk, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Ballet taught by an incredible & passionate faculty that is like no other!

VIEW CONVENTION INTERPRETIVE SOLO CHALLENGE
Just like an audition! Each dancer will have the opportunity to perform an interpretive solo in either jazz, contemporary or tap for 60 seconds to a song they’ve never heard before. Dancers will be placed in a Junior, Intermediate or Senior age category. Tickets must be purchased online through the registration portal and is available on a first come first serve basis. Cost: $50.00 plus tax/per dancer. Winners will be announced during the Awards Presentation at the end of the day. Space is limited.

VIEW DANCE CONVENTION | FAQ
1. What time does the first class start?
Warm up begins promptly at 9:00 am in the Intermediate Room for all dancers. The first dance class of the day begins at 9:35 am in the three respective rooms.
2. Where can I park?
Please refer to your event location page for details
3. Do I need to pack my own lunch?
Dancers are encouraged to pack their own lunches, snacks and water required throughout the day. Lunch is not provided by VIEW Dance Convention.
*VIEW St. John’s Convention* There is no outside food or drink permitted at the venue. A paid concession will be available on the day of Convention.
Don’t forget to bring your reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day

5. How long are the dance classes?
Each dance class is one hour in length with a 30 minute warm up to start the day!
6. Where is drop-off and can I wait until the first class starts?
You may drop off your dancer at the check in desk or after they have entered their classroom. If you wish to stay for the day and watch, you may purchase an Observer Pass at the registration table.
7. Where does my dancer go after check in?
The VIEW Team will show them to their classroom based on their age level where they will remain for the entirety of the Convention. Washrooms and break space will be clearly indicated.
8. What am I given at check in?
All dancers will receive a number, safety pins and a wristband. The numbers and wristband must be worn at all times
9. My dancer does not have a chaperon, can I stay with them?
Of course! You can stay with your dancer until class starts and you are welcome in the lobby throughout the day. If you wish to watch and have access to the classes all day, you may purchase an Observer Pass at the front desk!
10. If I registered independently, where would I check in?
There will be a designated check in point at the registration table. Please mention your first and last name at the registration table to receive your bib number and wristband.
11. Where is the Studio registration?
There will be a designated table for Studio Registration. These dancers must check in with their designated representative as a group.
12. Will I be able to take photos with the faculty?
YES! At the end of the awards ceremony that takes place from 5:30pm-5:45pm, there will be a Meet & Greet for an opportunity to meet the faculty, take photos and ask any questions!
13. Can I watch the awards ceremony if I do not have an Observer Wristband?
YES! Doors open to the public after the final class and all are welcome to watch the awards ceremony in the Intermediate Room.
14. Do I need a need to sign up to Regular Convention to take the VIEW After-Hours Class?
No you do not however a separate ticket is required for entry.
15. Can I purchase my ticket on the day of Convention for the VIEW After-Hours Class?
While it is recommended that you pre-purchase your ticket to avoid any lineups or being late for class, tickets are available for purchase onsite, the day of Convention.
16. Do the Mini’s have to stay for the entire day?
Mini classes only run from 9:30am-1:00pm. Mini’s are free to leave following performance and presentation.
17. When is the Interpretive Solo Challenge schedule posted? When and where do I check in?
The schedule will be posted at 12:00pm on the Intermediate Room Entrance Doors. Please check in at the music table in the Intermediate Room at 1:00pm, numbers must be visible. Participating dancers must be pre-registered. Winners will be announced at the final awards.
Important to note there may be a VIEW photographer and videographer capturing content on the day of Convention.
